In the early days of BBS and the Internet I
originally used just "Warlock" as my nick. This was based on the both the Adam
Warlock (see left) character from Marvel Comics and Julien Sands' Warlock
character (see right). Adam Warlock was my favorite Marvel character at the time
and I was constantly told when the movie came out that I resembled Julien Sands
(because I dressed in black and had long blond hair and a ponytail
mostly).
I also chose the name Warlock because it was gender
specific. Early days of IRC and BBS chats would always find at least a dozen
people asking A/S/L (age/sex/location) or "Are you male or female?", so I
thought I would go with something that would be generally apparent to those
looking as to my gender. I occasionally get a lot of flack from Pagans because
of my use of Warlock and yes I am well aware of the negative connotations of the
name, but as I said, it is gender specific and if I were to refer to myself as
"CyberWitch" MOST people would assume I was female. |

In around 1995-96 when AOL and CompuServ began
dumping people onto the net by the thousands, more and more "Warlocks" started
appearing in chat rooms and web sites. It was at that point that I changed my
nick from Warlock to CyberWarlock based in part on a story I was drafting at the
time about Nhicodima the Cybernetic Warlock. (I had not at that time adopted the
word "Technomancer") The original story was a much darker tale than that which I
later chose to publish online in my Sailor Moon
Fanfics and later redesigned the origins of in the Starseed
Chronicles.
For a time, I dropped the CyberWarlock nick and
adopted the name TekStorm when the meaning of "Cyber" online began to take on
negative (or alternative) meaning. TekStorm, being the shortened form of yet
another of my fantasy story characters, T'ekenduis Stormmaker. I eventually
dropped that nick and returned to using the CyberWarlock, since the vast
majority of my pages and information are under that name.
So, just in case you were curious... now you
know.
